JAN. 2013 Library Open House with Anne-Marie Picard

Library Open House with Anne-Marie Picard

Thursday 31st Jan at 18h30 in the Library Research Room

The library is pleased to invite you to our next Open House event, this Thursday 31st January 1t at 18h30, where AUP’s Anne-Marie Picard will be presenting her latest publication, ‘The Other, Myself’.

Anne-Marie has invited prize-winning Indian author Shumona Sinha to join her on this presentation (in English). Part of Anne-Marie’s work analyses Sinha’s 2011 autofiction Assommons les pauvres! (Let’s Pummel the Poor!) to articulate questions of cultural translations set against the background of rising anti-immigration politics in Europe. Sinha’s heroine is a young interpreter for the French Office for the Protection of Refugees, who finds herself assaulting an older male asylum seeker, in the Paris metro.

The library looks forward to welcoming you on Thursday for this exciting event. The whole AUP community is welcome to attend!
